Treatment of upper and lower urinary tract infections, including cystitis, pyelitis, and cystopyelitis, caused by susceptible bacteria. It is indicated for infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms susceptible to this agent, and is therefore effective in: acute, chronic, and complicated upper and lower urinary tract infections; and not related to: cystitis, pyelitis, cystopyelitis, epididymitis, prostatitis; gastrointestinal infections such as: infectious gastroenteritis, salmonellosis (typhoid fever), and bacillary dysentery.

This medication is a combination of two antibiotics: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Treatment, when recommended antibacterials are inappropriate, of: acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and soft tissue infections.
